The Queen

Spidersilk is filled with amazing characters that make the story come to life. One such character is the beautiful Isis, whose kidnapping plagues Mark for a good portion of the book. There is a lot going on with the character Isis and one of the major links you might want to look into is the connection with the Egyptian Goddess Isis.

This goddess was seen as the patroness of nature and magic. She was also known to listen to the prayers of the aristocrats and wealthy, which might explain Isis' presence as Mark's party. One of the coolest connections with the character in Spidersilk and the goddess comes to play when Isis tells the story of her kidnapping. Isis believes that a falcon led to her rescue from the detox prison she was forced into. The goddess Isis was said to be the mother of Horus, a god that appears with a falcon or hawk head. Another great link, is Sett the kidnapper can be seen as the Egyptian Set who murdered Isis' husband, Osiris. Isis, of course, led to the capture of Sett in the book and the Egyptian goddess Isis resurrected Osiris so he could fight another day. Cool, no?
