In Spidersilk the novel, spiders use their amazing spider silk to protect Mark from the invaders. However, in our own world, spiders are being praised for their ability to protect premature babies. More recently, scientists discovered that spider silk can be used in a drug that inflates premie babies’ lungs at birth. This will not only bring down the cost of the drug, but can make it safer.
